How to Cool Down Your Laptop: 7 Ways to Keep Your Laptop Cool While Gaming or Working 2022

How to Cool Down Your Laptop: 7 Ways to Keep Your Laptop Cool While Gaming or Working 2022

Many people ask about how laptop cooling works and what can they do to make their laptops less of a problem. The tips above should help you get started so that your laptop’s temperature doesn’t affect the performance while you play games or work.

A laptop’s temperature can be a problem for gamers and professionals who depend on their laptops to get work done. This is because a hotter laptop tends to have lower performance, which makes it slower when you need it most.

If your laptop gets hot enough, you might even start getting errors in some applications or games. The good news is that you can get your laptop cooled down without too much effort, and here is how.

1) Invest in a cooling pad if your laptop still overheats,

There are few laptops that cannot be cooled down with the methods above. If you have tried all of them but seen no improvement, it might be time to open up your wallet and get yourself a good quality laptop cooling pad. This will make sure that your laptop is cooled down enough even while playing the most demanding games.

If your laptop is still overheating even with a cooling pad, then the problem might be the internal temperature sensor that tells the fan when to spin faster and harder. If this is the case, then you will need to take your laptop apart and re-position or replace the sensor. This is recommended only for those who know what they’re doing and can do it without frying an otherwise perfectly good motherboard.

If none of these tips work, consider getting a new laptop that has better cooling capabilities. Your old laptop might be too outdated to cool down properly. If that is the case, you will need a new one sooner or later.

2) Clean up the dust from the vents and fan blades,

Some people recommend blowing compressed air into your laptop’s vents and fan blades so that they can get dirt and dust off. If you choose to do so, make sure to use a safe and clean spray for this purpose.

3) Increase the number of fans,

If possible, make sure that there are at least two cooling fans in your laptop. Most laptops come with a built-in fan or fans, but you might want to add more if you want better airflow.

There are a number of third-party cooling fans that you can add on your laptop, but also make sure not to disable the built-in ones.

4) Take it easy on your laptop while gaming or working,

Try not to perform any demanding functions on your laptop while playing games or doing any other rough work. This will help decrease the amount of heat that needs to be dissipated.

If you’re playing games, try to find the most lightweight ones so that your laptop can handle them better. For work, use a lighter software if possible.

5) Clean up your hard drive and re-install Windows,

Get rid of any unnecessary files on your laptop’s hard drive. Delete the files that you don’t need or move them elsewhere. After this, make sure to run the Disk Cleanup tool to delete temporary files and other unnecessary stuff.

If you want to be extra safe, your can also re-install Windows which will help remove any bloatware that might have accumulated on your laptop.

6) Use Your Laptop on A Table or Desk When Possible,

Using your laptop on the bed, sofa or other soft surfaces may not be good for it in the long term, according to Andrew Karaganis, assistant director of Columbia University Center for Electronic Business.

“Doing so can cause overheating and damage to internal components,” he says. “It can even shorten battery life.”

in my opinion, the number one way to have a good posture is not just to use your laptop on a table or desk when possible. In fact, I believe that most office workers don’t know how to sit on their chair properly.

What’s the proof? Well, you only need to look at the statistics of back related problems – it is the leading cause for absences at work, and it is one of the top reasons people go to see physiotherapists.

Its also important to not ONLY look at statistics . There are a lot of office workers who care about their health, have good back posture, but they still experience pain from time to time. This means that there might be another reason for their condition other than sitting at work.

7) Change Settings on Your Laptop,

On Windows startup, the operating system runs many programs. Each of these programs is called a “startup” or “boot” program. Some are needed to get your computer running properly while others are completely unnecessary.

You may have noticed that your laptop slows down after using it for awhile and it takes longer for applications to load when you start up the computer. This is because more and more programs are starting up with your laptop, taking longer to load.

You can adjust the startup programs so that only the ones you really need start through Windows Startup. In this way, Windows will be able to run faster as well as take less time for applications to load upon startup.  It will also make your laptop last longer by increasing the battery life.
